Install the banner

Once your banner is published, one line of code puts it on your website. Paste it as the first script in the head of every page, so it loads before anything that sets cookies.

Read the video as text

Once your banner is published, it goes on your website. Your website's Overview shows the next step. Select Start. On the Embed tab, this one line of code is your banner. Select Copy, and paste it as the first script inside the head tag of every page, so it loads before anything that sets cookies. It works on the addresses listed here. If your site uses another one, add it in Website settings. Publish the change on your site, then open it in a private window. Your banner greets every new visitor, and nothing optional runs until they choose. Back here, Check installation opens your site and looks for the code.

  1. Copy your banner's code

On your website's Overview, the next step points here. Select Start, or open Consent Banner and its Embed tab. Select Copy.

  2. Paste it first in the head of every page

Paste the code as the first script inside the <head> tag of every page, without async or defer. Loading first lets the banner hold back cookies and trackers before they run.

On WordPress, Shopify or Wix, paste it in the theme's header code. Any site that lets you edit the <head> works.

  3. Publish the change and look

Publish the change on your website, then open it in a private window. The banner greets every new visitor, and nothing optional runs until they choose.

  4. Check installation

Back on the Embed tab, select Check installation. ComplyZero opens your page and looks for the code. It also warns you if the code loads late, or if a tool on the page can never run because your banner has no purpose for it.

Common questions

My site uses another address, such as a shop subdomain. The banner works on the addresses listed on the Embed tab. Add any other one in Website Settings.

Can I use Google Tag Manager? It works, but we don't recommend it. Tag Manager loads the banner after your page starts, so cookies set before it can slip through.

A chat or video stopped showing. That's the banner holding it until the visitor agrees. A held video shows a box with a button to show it, and a chat appears once the visitor allows it. If your chat must be there for every visitor, classify its cookies as Necessary on the Cookies page. See Banner JavaScript for how each tool is held.
